Policies and payment
Reasons for this Agreement:
These guidelines clarify what is expected of you and what to expect from me so that we may plan for the future and avoid conflicts and misunderstandings. Following these guidelines also ensures respect for everyone's time, energy and finances.
Music Lesson Calendar:
September-May: Most students prefer to have a consistent schedule during these months. Consistent weekly lessons will begin on the second Monday of September.
June-August: Many students wish to take time off in the Summer but some choose to have weekly lessons. See below for more details.
Holidays: Lessons will be cancelled for these Holidays unless agreed otherwise in advance
Thanksgiving (Wednesday-Friday of Thanksgiving week)
Winter Break (December 22nd-27th)
New Year’s Day
Fourth of July
You may take other holidays off but they might count toward your one lesson off per month. (See below)
Weekly Lessons: September-May
Weekly lessons begin the 2nd Monday of September. Fall lesson times are guaranteed to students on a first come first serve basis. Students are expected to do their best to be on time and prepared for each lesson.
Lessons: June-August
If you are planning to take time off in the Summer, please give at least two weeks notice. If you’d like to hold a specific day and time for lessons in the Fall, you are expected to pay for at least three lessons per month through the Summer. If you do not wish to have your time held, then missed lessons will not be billed for Summer months.
Cancellations:
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at the full rate. September through May, students may miss up to one lesson per month and I will do my best to accommodate rescheduling a make up lesson when communicated with at least 24 hours notice. Unfortunately, reimbursements or credits will not be given to the student if they have already paid.
In December, two lessons total may be skipped without payment for winter break.
In Case of Illness: Please do not attend lessons when sick. Contact me to discuss ways to reschedule. I will always communicate as soon as possible regarding illness or cancellations.
If I need to cancel a lesson you will not be charged and a credit or reimbursement will be given.
Make Up Lessons:
Students may schedule up to four make-up lessons per year for missed lessons. Make up lessons will not be scheduled for “no-show” lessons (absent with no notice) or lessons canceled within 24 hours notice. Make up lessons also can not be scheduled in place of the regularly scheduled lesson time.
Terminating Lessons:
If you wish to terminate all future lessons, please give notice two weeks prior to your last lesson.
Payment:
Current lesson rates are $75 per half-hour, $100 per forty-five minutes and $125 per hour. Two students in the same household and family, may take back to back 30 minute lessons at a family rate of $125 per hour.
Additional costs may arise for materials such as books and sheet music. I will always inform you in advance when a cost such as this is coming up.
Student or parent pays in full per month at the first lesson of the month, unless otherwise agreed upon. Cash, check, PayPal, Venmo and Zelle are accepted. You can find me on both Venmo and PayPal at @annatroyguitar.
